What you’ll learn
Every letter, with a word you’ll use.
Katakana writes the words Japanese borrows from other languages, and foreign names: コーヒー, パン, アンナ. Japanese Foundations uses it from the first lesson. This deck teaches the 45 katakana you will meet, the marks that change their sounds, the long-vowel bar ー, the small ャ, ュ, ョ and ッ, and the look-alikes シ and ツ, ソ and ン.
Each flashcard shows a letter on the front. Turn it over for its sound, with audio, a tip and a katakana word from the course, with its picture.
Take it after Hiragana: about four days at 15 new flashcards a day.
