- Levels A1 to C2
Three kinds of question
- Read a word and pick what it means.
- Listen and pick what you heard.
- Fill the gap in one of Anna’s sentences.
Not sure? Tap I don’t know. A wrong answer costs a third of a right one, so guessing never helps.
Question 1 of 25
How the test works.
Easy to rare
Five words from each band of the most common words: the first 1,000, then up to 2,000, 4,000, 8,000 and 16,000. You’ll read some, hear some and fill gaps in Anna’s sentences from Misu’s course.
A1 to C2
Your level is the widest band you know most of: the first 1,000 most common words for A2, 2,000 for B1, 4,000 for B2, 8,000 for C1 and 16,000 for C2.
No points for guessing
A wrong answer costs a third of a right one, so tap I don’t know when you’re not sure. It tests your words, not your grammar.
Where Spanish starts.
These words open Misu’s Spanish course: lesson 1, First steps. Every lesson follows Anna, a student from London, through her year in Madrid, with her friend Javi, her teacher Carmen and Misu, her cat.
The official Spanish exams, DELE and SIELE, use the same CEFR levels. This test is a quick guide to your vocabulary, not one of them.

Spanish level test
How can I test my Spanish level?
Take the test above: 25 questions, about four minutes, with audio. It goes from everyday Spanish words to rare ones and gives your CEFR level, from A1 to C2, by how far your vocabulary reaches.
How accurate is the level?
It’s an estimate from your vocabulary alone, and where one level’s words end and the next begin is a rough guide. The official levels also cover grammar, listening, speaking and writing, so treat the result as a guide, not a certificate.
Can I use it as a placement test?
Yes, as a quick first check. It places you from A1 to C2 in about four minutes, which helps when you’re choosing a class or a course. A school’s own placement test may also check your grammar, writing and speaking.
How many Spanish words do you need for B1?
About 2,000. The test puts B1 at knowing most of the 2,000 most common Spanish words, A2 at 1,000, B2 at 4,000, C1 at 8,000 and C2 at 16,000.
Why is there an I don’t know button?
A wrong answer costs a third of a right one, so guessing gains nothing on average. Saying you don’t know keeps your result accurate.
Can I learn the words I missed?
Yes. Misu’s Spanish course has 1,500 of the most common Spanish words as ready-made flashcards, with pictures and audio, and Misu makes a flashcard for any other word in one tap.
