Terms, in plain type.
Overview
The short version: your cards are yours, be decent to the service, subscriptions run through the app stores, and either of us can end this at any time. Using the misu app or misu.io (together, "misu") means you agree to these terms — if you don't agree, don't use misu.
Who we are
misu is operated by A3 Studio L.L.C-FZ ("we", "us"). Reach us at support@misu.io.
Your account
You need to be at least 13 (or the minimum age in your country) to use misu. Keep your sign-in method secure and your account information accurate; you're responsible for what happens under your account. One account per person — accounts aren't transferable or for sale.
Your content
Everything you put into misu — cards, decks, templates, photos, audio — stays yours. You give us the limited, non-exclusive license we need to operate the app: hosting, syncing, backing up, displaying your content back to you, and processing it for features you invoke. That license exists to run misu, nothing else — we don't publish your content, and the license ends when you delete the content or your account (backup copies lag by at most 30 days). You're responsible for having the rights to what you upload.
Card content misu generates for you — definitions, sentences, audio, artwork — is yours to use as part of your cards. Generated content can be wrong: check anything that matters before an exam, a tattoo, or a conversation with your in-laws. It may not be unique to you, and you can't bulk-extract it to build a dataset or competing service.
misu Plus
misu Plus is an auto-renewing subscription purchased through Apple's App Store or Google Play. The price, term, and any free trial are shown before you buy; payment is charged to your store account, and subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel any time in your store's subscription settings — deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription. Unused trial time is forfeited when a paid subscription starts. Refunds are handled by the store you bought through, under its terms; except where the law says otherwise, fees already paid are non-refundable. If prices change, we'll give reasonable notice and the change applies from your next renewal, never retroactively.
Preset decks & dictionary content
Preset decks, dictionary entries, and example sentences draw on licensed and open sources (including the Tatoeba corpus, CC-BY) — they're for studying within misu, not for bulk extraction or redistribution.
Acceptable use
Don't: break the law with misu; upload content that's unlawful or infringes someone's rights; harass anyone; reverse-engineer, scrape, spam, or disrupt the service; hammer card generation with automation; resell access; or misrepresent your identity to us. We build gentle software; please be a gentle user.
Our stuff
misu — the app, site, design, mascot, garden artwork, and the misu name — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property law. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app; they don't give you our brand.
Termination
You can leave any time by deleting your account. We can suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms, and — honestly — may need to change or discontinue features or the service for technical, legal, or business reasons. If misu ever shuts down, we'll give you notice and time to export your cards. Sections that by nature survive (your content rights, disclaimers, liability, governing law) survive.
Disclaimers
misu is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We work hard on reliability, but we can't promise uninterrupted service, error-free operation — or fluency. misu helps you remember; the learning is still yours to do.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or reputational harm — arising from your use of misu. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or USD 50. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and disputes belong exclusively to the courts of the UAE — except where the consumer law of your home country gives you protections that can't be contracted away, which these terms don't touch.
Changes & contact
If these terms change materially, we'll say so in the app and update the date at the top of this page before the changes take effect; continuing to use misu after that means you accept them. Questions: support@misu.io.
